Privacy policy & cookie policy

1. Data Controller

The data controller for this website is:

Inria – Centre Inria de l’Université de Lille Parc scientifique de la Haute-Borne, 40, avenue Halley - Bât A - Park Plaza 59650, Villeneuve d’Ascq, France Contact: cristian.preda@inria.fr

2. Personal Data Collected

This website does not use contact forms or audience analytics tools.

The only data collected is technical navigation data (server logs, IP addresses), processed automatically by the hosting infrastructure for security and operational purposes. Since this website is hosted on Inria’s GitLab Pages, this navigation data is managed by Inria’s IT Department (DSI) and is not used for tracking or profiling purposes.

In addition, this website embeds an interactive map provided directly by OpenStreetMap (www.openstreetmap.org) on the Contact page. When this map is loaded, your browser sends a request directly to OpenStreetMap’s servers, which may process your IP address to deliver the map. This has been verified in a browser’s developer tools: the embed sets no cookies and triggers no third-party telemetry request. Please refer to the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy for details on their data practices.

All other assets on this website (fonts, styles, scripts) are self-hosted and served from this domain. No external font service (e.g. Google Fonts) or other third-party script is loaded.

The processing of navigation data is carried out on the basis of legitimate interest and the public interest mission of Inria (Article 6.1.e of the GDPR – EU Regulation 2016/679).

4. Data Retention

Navigation logs are retained for a maximum of 12 months by Inria’s hosting infrastructure, in accordance with applicable regulations.

5. Your Rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU 2016/679) and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise these rights, please contact: cristian.preda@inria.fr

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority: CNIL – Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés https://www.cnil.fr

What is a cookie? A cookie is a small file stored on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit a website. It allows certain information about your visit to be remembered.

No first-party tracking, advertising, or audience analytics cookies are used on this website. Because this site is a static Hugo site, it does not set the technical/session cookies that a CMS such as WordPress would normally generate. Fonts, styles, and scripts are all self-hosted, so no request is sent to a third party other than the map embed described above.

OpenStreetMap map embed The embed of OpenStreetMap on the Contact page causes your browser to connect to servers operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation when the Contact page is loaded. This connection involves a transfer of your IP address to a third party, on the basis of Inria’s legitimate interest in providing visitors with a way to locate its premises (Article 6.1.f of the GDPR). No cookie is set and no additional third-party or tracking request is triggered by this embed.

Current implementation and consent Since the OpenStreetMap embed sets no cookie and involves no tracking, no cookie-consent banner is required under the ePrivacy Directive / CNIL framework, which applies to storage of information on a visitor’s device, not to the mere loading of a resource. This site therefore does not display a cookie banner.
